Understanding of the world

Young children are fascinated by the world around them. At the Ark we give children the opportunity to find out about things like how things grow and why ice melts or in how cake mixture changes in the oven.

They also enjoy finding out about what happened in the past, to themselves, to their parents and grandparents. They get to play with computers and other forms of technology and to make things from fabric, wood and junk.

This area of learning also helps them discover and understand about their own and other peoples’ cultures.

You can help your child by:

  • Go for walks and talk about what you see
  • Be interested and try to find answers to their questions.
