Communication and Language
This is all about learning to listen to others, giving attention to what others say, ordering your thoughts and expressing yourself, by speaking.
At the Children’s Ark we see every interaction between adult and child (and between child and child) as an opportunity to develop their ability to communicate effectively. We also plan for speaking and listening opportunities every day. There is a role play area and dressing up clothes, for example, so the children can re-live experiences and re-tell or make up stories.
You can help your child by:
- Take time to talk with them
(try turning the buggy around to face you) - Turn off the telly when it’s just background noise
- Sing and say nursery rhymes
