There is a new government website to help families with childcare costs.
There are a variety of schemes available for families of all incomes and the online calculator can help you to work out what you may be eligible for.

Options available include:
2 year olds: 15 hours free childcare
- For families receiving some forms of support
3 & 4 year olds: 15 hours free childcare
- For all families
3 & 4 year olds: 30 hours free childcare
- For all working families where both parents work at least 16 hours each at minimum/living wage
Birth – 11 years: Tax Free Childcare
- For working families, including the self-employed
- With children under 12 (or under 17 if disabled)
- For every £8 you pay in, the government will add an extra £2, up to £2,000 per child
Birth – 15 year: Tax Credits for Childcare / Universal Credits for Childcare
- For low income working families
Birth – 15 year: Childcare Vouchers
- Those registered with the childcare vouchers scheme prior to 4thOctober 2018 if their child remains eligible
Support while you study
- Weekly payments from Care to Learn if you’re at school or sixth-form college
- Help through your college if you’re in further education
- A weekly grant if you’re in full-time higher education
