Going to school

At the end of the pre-school year, the majority of children leave us to go to Pendeen or St. Just primary schools. However, we also have children from the Ark going to Trythall, Sennen, Heamoor, Mousehole, St Buryan and St Levan schools.

We work in close partnership with local schools to ensure that children have a smooth transition.

For example, last summer Ark staff accompanied children to Trengwainton Gardens for forest school experiences, organised by the St Just reception teacher. We also took them to weekly ‘learning together’ sessions at St. Just school. We also make regular, informal visits to Pendeen school. The teachers tell us that the Ark children settle in at school very happily and quickly.
