Going to school

At the end of the pre-school year, the majority of children leave us to go to Pendeen or St. Just primary schools. However, we also have children from the Ark going to Trythall, Sennen, Alverton, Mousehole, St Buryan and St Levan schools.

We work in close partnership with local schools to ensure that children have a smooth transition.

For example, last summer we took children to a weekly ‘learning together’ session at St. Just school. We also make regular, informal visits to Pendeen school and all of their teachers came a read a story to our pre-school group over the Summer Term. Teachers from other feeder schools visited us to see children. The reception class teachers tell us that the Ark children settle in at school very happily and quickly.
